ITZACHILATLAN'S SACRED FIRE

FSI

Our identity is inextricably linked to the life and path of Fred Ulfe Huaynapicchu (“Young Mountain”). His early encounter with master plants at just nine years old marked the beginning of his long journey. Encounters of wisdom with remarkable men and women from the traditions of the Indigenous Andean-Amazonian peoples of South America and Mexico helped shape his grateful heart. I met Fred Ulfe, “Young Mountain,” in Peru, as well as his mentor, Don Aurelio Díaz Tekpankalli, Spiritual Chief of the Nation of the Sacred Fire of Itzachilatlan (an ecumenical organization), in the early 1990s. At that time, five hundred years since the transculturation had been completed, and following the ancestral mandate to value the authentic principles of the past—those that could once again lay the foundations for a society formed by families and individuals who thirst for truth, awareness, and fulfillment, and who seek to satisfy that thirst… Thus, today, Fred Ulfe Huaynapicchu stands as the Legal Representative of the Sacred Fire of Itzachilatlan Community in Peru, International Representative, Chief and Spiritual Leader, Medicine Man, and Onaya (Amazonian leader and healer). Don Aurelio Díaz Tekpankalli is my godfather in this tradition; Fred “Young Mountain” is a brother on the path, and I am honored to present him in this way.
